Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to information when you use VidGrab. Last updated: October 10, 2026.

Draft notice: this policy is pending review by a qualified legal professional.

Summary

VidGrab does not require an account. Its downloader needs the link you paste so it can find media. We do not store the links or media files in a database or file storage. The site uses Google Analytics to measure visits. It does not use advertising trackers.

Information you give us

  • Links you paste into the downloader. They are used to find media for that request.
  • Messages you send through the contact page, if you contact us by email. We only receive what you send us.

How pasted links are processed

When you submit a link, the server makes a request to the platform that hosts the post (Pinterest or X) to find its public video or image. The result is sent back to your browser. The application code does not write submitted links to a database or to a file.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes every request that reaches the site, and request logging (observability) is enabled for this site. Those logs can include request details such as the requested address, and a pasted link is part of the address when it is submitted to the downloader. How long these logs are kept depends on Cloudflare's settings and policies. Read Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Media files

When you choose a file to download, the server fetches it from Pinterest's or X's media servers (pinimg.com or twimg.com) and passes it through to your browser. We do not keep copies of these files.

Your theme choice

If you switch to dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not sent to our servers. You can clear it in your browser settings. If you have not chosen a theme, the site follows your system setting.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics (Google tag ID G-0LH2TJTTQT). Google Analytics may set cookies and collect usage information from your browser, such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, your browser type, and your device. We use this to understand how the site is used. Google's privacy policy applies to that information. Cloudflare's network may also set technical cookies needed to operate and protect its service. If advertising or other trackers are added in the future, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.

Third parties

  • Pinterest and X receive requests from the server when you use the downloader to read a post, and their media servers are used to fetch files. Their own policies apply to those services.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site and processes requests as described above.
  • Google (Google Analytics) receives usage information from your browser, as described above.

How long information is kept

VidGrab's code does not keep your pasted links or downloaded files. Technical request logs kept by Cloudflare follow Cloudflare's retention settings and policies, as described above.

Your choices

You can avoid pasting links you do not want processed, clear your browser's local storage, or contact us with a privacy question.
